Fashion Victims

2:30 AM Prueba 0 Comments

Most people picture a person obsessed or addicted to fashion, a fashion junkie, who practically lives his life around material things and spends a lot of money on it.
However there is another type of fashion victim. One that literally is.
I was reading an article about all the damage clothes can do to our body, none is nice and some can be quite serious so here I want to share with you significant problems each garnments can cause in order to prevent turning into a victim of fashion, because that's really SCARY!

Bras
Bras are the modern corsets and their function is to hold and fight against the laws of gravity,
NOT to SQUEEZE!
Because if a bra is to tight it can snug the chest lymph nodes and produce cysts.
We must add to this that if a bras does not provide the exact support it may also produce back pain and irritation.

Panties

Female briefs should be cotton to let intimate parts breathe and prevent the appearance of fungi that causes infections.
Very tight man briefs can lead to infertility because they tend to squeeze the body organs, causing these to heat up and not work properly, that's why loose boxers are the best option.
At last i this category I only want to say that thongs are NOT HYGIENIC ... they make everything go everywhere ... avoid them!
If you wear them because you do not want your underwear to leave marks or be seen with tight clothes then use complete options like the ones from Maidenform.

Pants

For men or women very tight jeans can cause very similar problems to carpal tunnel syndrome in which legs are numb, tingling, asleep and may loose sensitivity.
Wear stretchy pants or leggings and specially stretchy jeans!

Tie
Extremely tight ties may eventually cause blindness, because when something is pushing the jugular blood pressure becomes irregular and in severe cases causes cataracts.

Heels
4 inch heels are perfect because they prevent from getting flat feet and body proportions remain stable, however higher heels change the distribution of the entire body and can cause spine deformation, very strong muscle aches and weakness in legs.
It is simply recommended to wear higher heels sporadically.

One might think that people undergo only a little discomfort to look good, but if we think of the deformed skulls from the Mesoamerican in the past, the tiny "lotus feet" of Chinese women and the giraffe necks of the African women we can see that the pursuit of beauty is and has been for thousands of years a culturally very powerful stimulus that can cause irreparable damage to health.
So before using any trends or not very comfy clothes, think about what those can do to your body.
Use fashion that suits you and do not become a victim of fashion!
It can be Spooky!

P.S. Happy Halloween guys!

BBB? Yes, Braided Ballerina Bun.
I never saw myself as a high bun person, but since I was very curious I bought one of those foam doughnuts to do one.
For my surprise I quite loved it because it's easy and can be as casual or formal as you want it to be.
You guys liked it a lot on Instagram and people everywhere asked me how to do it sooooooo here it is!
My very first TUTORIAL!

You need...

Here you need to wrap one braid above and one below the bun.

To cover the league loose up one of the straps of
the braid close to the part you need to cover and secure it over with a bobby pin.
And you are ready to go...!

Hot, Cold and Everything in Between!

3:00 AM Prueba 4 Comments

Some people face a problema called "the everyday outfit selection", ever heard of it?
Because despite our overflowing closet we tend to have nothing to wear, especially when we don't put out the look a night before and find ourselves on a hurry the next morning.
Now do me a favor and add climate change to the equation.
What do you notice? 'Cause I got CHAOS as a result.

The smart thing to do when autumn arrives is to take our coats and boots out to endure chilly weather, but lately we find ourselves in limbo, because no matter if we check the climate report every night, we must wait until next morning to see if the garment choice is appropiate.

Without going any further, last week Mr. Weather App on my iPhone said the day was going to be 26°C, so I wore a beautiful lace blouse from Aéropostale and a sweater.

Half an hour later I was at school cursing to Zeus for that bloody cold winter dawn.
So on tuesday I took my precautions and checked the weather twice. It said we were going to enjoy a cool afternoon. My choice? a shirt, thick cotton sweater, plaid cotton pants and military blazer.

At 2 pm, when I was just beginning to feel proud of my choice the bipolar sun came out with the purpouse of boiling me in cashemere-foil.
Ok, it wasn´t that bad... because I made it work... and you need to keep reading to know how.

So yeah, autumn arrives, we renew our closet, flowers stop blooming, leaves start to fall, the sun sets earlier, but is it hot or cold? WHAT ON EARTH SHOULD WE WEAR?

After a lot of analysing the situation 2 things came clear.
1.- Global warming is something we can't fight. Yes, we can slow it down, but don't make it dissapear.
2.- New trends come from needs, reason why we have freedom to try.

If the weather is so weird that we can't stick to one season, who said we can't wear both?
Think about the new combos we've seen in the runways.
The thing is to find the right combination in order to succed. I love wearing layers, that's why the second outfit worked. I just took out the cashemere and it was fresh and perfect.
Try a sweater with a mini skirt as I did here, "wear coat as a dress" as ADR would say.
Use fur or faux fur as you prefer with EVERYTHING: Dresses, skirts, jeans, even leather leggings to create the ultimate glamour combination!
Wear your favourite dress with a shirt underneath and in other look use the shirt with a nice sweater together with a statement jacket, booties and a hat to create a cozy chic outfit that you can peel during the day and still look fabulous!

The options are infinite you just need to play with the seasons!

Renew or Die

3:00 AM Prueba 4 Comments

Human beings always need a change.
Call it developement, evolution, rebellion or whatever you like, but one thing is certain; this doesn't need to be a social change, it might be an inner revolution manifest by something as "little" as a hair cut.
Yes, I have a theory and doubt about the subject.
For most women our hair is a part of who we are and what we project. In my case it means happiness, childhood and growth.
Happiness because of those moments when my grandma used to braid my hair while we talked for hours. My classmates use to call me Rapunzel in kindergarten and elementary school because of my sleek and long long hair that use to reach my hipbone.. this reminds me of all the times I played the princess.
Growth might be difficult to explain, but it began when at the age of nine, after my daddy passed away, I decided to chop of my hair from my hips to my chin. This, if I think about it, might have been a silent scream for change or intent of a fresh start.
When I entered secundary school, my spaghetti sleek hair decided it was the time to grow into a curl explosion and everything changed... Lucky for me I developed quite a skill for brading which saved me and still does, from enduring a crazy mane the days I wake up late...
So my hair has been basically a faithful companion during my entire life.
And lately, I've had toughts about getting rid of a major part of it. It might be a reflection of everything I've been trough this past year as well as a milestone in my stock.
It would be a more a vanguard look to embrace my new role as fashion blogger, writter and high school student as it would also serve to leave things behind... Like "the boy you never told to like you..." as Selena Gomez would say, pesimistic ideas, insecurities and all those matters that come along with adolescence, which I've been told it's only a stage in our existence and doesn't last much (THANK GOD)

Still I don't know what to do...
Would this really be a mental change as much as it is physical?
Will it work?
Am I brave enough or able to leave all those things behind?
Can I endure losing my accomplice?
Have you ever had an urge for change? What do you think?

Be or not to be.. that's the dilemma.

Studded clutch: Iván Ávalos

My dear friend and designer Iván Ávalos (you know him from EMD13) made my second day at Fashion Week extra special by bringing me a beautiful gift!
It's the perfect clutch to take to a party or wear as a daily statement.
I couldn't be happier and already have in my mind a million ways to wear it!

Thanks love!

His creation at EMD13 and my gift!
Doesn't he have a very cool signature?

He also made a drawing of myself a few weeks ago...

Iván is a very talented guy and believe when I tell you... We should expect great things from him in the future!

The penultimate day of Fashion Week Mexico ended with a retrospective of the 12 year career of Spanish designer David Delfin.
Marie Claire mag brought the designer along with Prince Pelayo to present at "The Box" some of his iconic pieces.

This were my favourite looks of all.
I think David Delfín has a unique style only for the edgy girls in the world.
It would be amazing if some of dare to wear his clother.
I would love the shimmering look or even the color look.
Supernal!

Thanks for the invite Ariadne Grant!

Young Twist

3:00 AM Prueba 1 Comments

You guys know what a great effect the first time I saw a collection by Jesús Ibarra & Bertholdo caused on me.
And since that amazing show, season through season I'm always eager to see what they have prepared for us.
But this time it was different.... It was better.
I entered backstage and could not only see the garnments before and appreciate little details, Jesús Ibarra himself explained me everything about their SS14 collection.

The designer told me that this time they wanted to do something completely different, give the collection a fresh and younger twist a la JI+B, meaning without losing sophistication and elegance.
And for that, they got rid of high buns and heels and gave the models a relaxed look, these wore Adriana Soto sandals and had their natural waves loose.
There was a lot of leather in the collection (something I quite liked!) and we were able to see it everywhere mixing up with embroidery!

Backstage

After my backstage visit it all began....
Tropical lights lit up the runway and as the first model came out, the music exploded. Nothing more and nothing less than Dubstep that brought out the change given by the designers this time.
A pleasant surprise if you ask me, that excited me almost to dance and left my mouth open.

This dress caught my eye the second I saw those green embroidered flowers hanging backstage.
Look at the movement... ♥

This orange dress is another one of my favourites.
The leather bustier is really edgy and at the same time feminine...

FLOWERS in the shoulders.
I need some of those...

You saw this skirt on Instagram ... I just told my companion "This girl is on fire!"
AMAZING! Love Love Love = Want Want Want!
 ♥

Pink leather
The clash between tender and rough

I'm obsessed with mini skirts and volume.
You move and get involved in a ladylike appeal.

CLOSE UP: The fierce jewelry from LFR Designs looked stunning!

Lace&Leather
Soft - Hard
Delicate - Rocker
Contrast for fashion lovers

Not many people can achieve such a fabulous and classy cleavage.
Another one of my favourites.

That dress between boho-chic and gypsy stole my heart and look at this sporty ensamble!
I asked you guys on social media what you thought about varsity jackets and sporty details.
Well, this is a dream come true. The perfect sporty silhouette with lace and lovely materials that make it look cool and effortless chic!
I even have paired it in my mind with my Jeremy Scott x New Era Cap and it looks marvelous
(in my dreams... hihihi)

Grand Finale!

AS you see the collection was DIVINE!
IF I had to reduce it to my favourites (because everything in life come down to those) I would need the green opening dress, the fire skirt, some purple gypsy allure, a bright orange leather bustier, a volume mini skirt and a sporty look for a relaxed day.. a la My Vintage Armoire ;)

Xoxo, Roberta W.P.F

P.S Here's the song now on repeat in my iPod ... hihihi have a nice week
