Serendipity

5:25 PM Prueba 0 Comments

In general,
serendipity is the act of finding something valuable or delightful when you are not looking for it.
A word.  A love.  A song.  A look.  A friend.  A lipstick.  A pair of stilettos.....
fortunate wind... click.... perfect picture.
A thought that whisks us away from the here and now to take us into a stream of utopia..
Vital lives are about action. You can't feel warmth unless you create it, can't feel delight until you
play, can't meet light unless you've found darkness, can't know serendipity unless you risk or unmask your intentions.
I can't say I'm a girl of simple tastes, however I paradoxically enjoy plane fortunate moments observing my surroundings, walking around, being spontaneous, giggling for hours, having a sudden intellectual conversation, free my mind, and once I've slayed its dragons, live each and every feeling in the most intense way possible.
So, this friday I would encourage you to dip your serenity in serendipity and let the surprise be your prize. (That right there, was a great inspiration stroke)

RED

12:40 PM Prueba 0 Comments

Red is the best percepted color by every eye in the animal kingdom.
It is the exception to a dog's black and white vision, serves as poison alert in a great amount of frogs and can make a bull's heart pound so fast that it goes high on exhilaration only.
A color so primal and with so many intended meanings is often correlated, in a very interesting way, with the deepest emotions on both ends of the spectrum.
On one hand you have happiness, falling in love, infatuation and passion.
On the other you've got obsession, danger, fear, doubt and anger.
It's effects aren't only emotional, red can make us feel warmth, excitenment and even color our skin when our blood vessels seem to have an urge to demonstrate how much we love or hate those around us.
I like to think about it as the means to an end. Either you make a good impression, or you end crossing the line into the dark side and cause a little more than a pleasent impact. This rule would be the classy& hoochy to the ying&yang, however there's always a variated palette of vermilion between them for you to find what suits you.
Ruby has been the star of every collection in the past two seasons.
And if you were sleeping under a rock and had no clue, then the hypnotic sanguine suit gladiators from Dolce&Gabbana should make your acquaintance.

Carmine is a fundamental part of every fashion subculture at the moment. Chanel punk tartan couture, Armani bridal gowns, Giambattista Valli kaskade òmbre dream dresses and Saint Laurent leather rocker jackets have certainly made a statement and set the rules to the entire world: RED IS BACK. The memo has filtered down to every fast fashion store we know to end up as a major actor in our closets.
Makeup has returned to it's roots and reestablished the dragon lady dictatorship with nothing less then a thousand shades of blood in lips and nails that have finally come to put some order into the colorful madness we were in.

Think about Audrey, Coco, Cindy or Carolina, red lipstick is the perfect balanced epitome of the amalgam between sexyness and timeless elegance.
Returning to clothes, one must ALWAYS keep this principle in mind.
Red is like animal print, one shouldn't get too excited. Apply it on the lips, but leave everything else natural. Wear it on a dress, and remain discrete everywhere else. Combine it with a B&W ensamble to portrait a little Chanel and don't be afraid of it!
Try it on leather and the patent version as well but watch out the shoes.
Red all stars are the coolest, a pair of stillettos as well, but think about the hight and material so that you don't go from starlet to street walker too quickly.
Don't mix it with deep cleavage, short skirts, HShoes (yes, that kind of shoes), too much makeup or crazy prints.
Keep it, casual, natural and the center piece of the look.

"You wake up at Seatac, SFO, LAX. You wake up at O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, BWI. Pacific, mountain, central. Lose an hour, gain an hour. This is your life, and it's ending one minute at a time. You wake up at Air Harbor International. If you wake up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?"

What do you think? Could you?
Years go by, we go to the same places, sometimes meet the same people, but are we the same person?
No.
Because life goes on and we develop, we spiritually and mentally grow, we suffer, and most important we learn.
It might be the same spot in the park, the same lake, the same ducks... But never the same thoughts.
W.
Such a powerful letter to me. A few years back it had no meaning but a pain in my tale, because of the difficulty to pronounce it.
Now it means everything and nothing.
It is the beginning of the future: Writer
It is heritage: Woodworth
It is powerful: Word
It can inflect pain and change everything: War
It is all of us: World
It was something mundane that change it's meaning after years of learning... After years of living.
It makes me fell fearless, strong, happy and somehow surprised of how much experiences can change you forever.
Love can change you, sorrow, pain and excitement... It's beautiful.
No surprise this sweater had a magnetic attraction on me, such a lovely thing triggered so much in my mind I needed to own it.
That's how a favourite is born, when you don't just like it because it's pretty, but because it means something.

Fedora

8:58 PM Prueba 0 Comments

"Grab your coat and get your hat, leave your worry on the doorstep...
Just direct your feet to the sunny side of the Street"

I consider myself an old soul.
Yes, I have a 90's birth date but would have loved to rock to the 80's beat, flapp all flapper like a 20's gal and walk all Casablanca as they would have done in the 50's.
As a history lover there are 3 factors I crave nostalgically while reviewing fashion history. (it doesn't apply to the 80's)
ELEGANCE. ATTITUDE. CLASS.
A perfect example is the former dazzling hollywood glamour.
Think about Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, Humphrey Bogart... those where people with a certain savoure fair that made everyone fall in love with the shimmering mirage of the perfect life they supposedly lead. The clothes, the look, the unyielding women with the perfect makeup a silk scarf, fedora and the world to their feet.
Those days when elegance actually mattered and meant more than being "old fashioned"
Those days when it was all about natural beauty and that X factor rather than twerking and controvery just to get ratings. I would love that those things like well dressing, education and chivalry were still essentials in our society.
And that's the reason why garnments like a silk blouse, red lipstick or hats and gloves evoke so much.
Those are pieces with a past.... And past has a mistery.
It was trully exciting when I got this fedora.
People usually tell me I have a hat-face (hate how it sounds) meaning that I can wear them. I don't really know, what I know is that they make me feel different, somehow misterious and like I'm wearing a bit of that millenial immaculate allure present in every epoque since middle age.
Hats are lady like, strong and effortlessly seductive. They hide your eyes and your true intentions, only showing your lips and a flirty smile. They make you different and strong.
So ditch the beanie this season and go for it!

Hell-O Again School...

1:00 AM Prueba 0 Comments

Everything good comes to an end, and the inevitable return to school has come.
But "Oh my.. Oh my..." we all say with suffering voices and affraid looks in our face... "What on earth am I going to wear?"
Don't even bother in denying it, everyone wants to look splendid the first day of school.
Either because you change your look, lost weight, or just want to make a good impression... We all want to be THAT cool guy who enjoyed summer to the max and returned looking all fresh to start the semester.

Following this social need for making a good impression, I've gattered a couple of ideas to be comfortable and chic on our first day of school.
It's up to you and your style which one to take as inspiration...
I'm still very undecided but I bet I'll end up taking them all as inspiration for the first month. :)

The Cool Kid on the block is the one who's always got all eyes on him/her for it's unique edgy, somehow bad-boy-looking style. I'm quite into this boyish/sporty allure as I expressed on THIS post, because.... We girls rock boy's clothing better.
YES WE DO!
And that's why a bomber jacket is the perfect accesory to match your though lady-like leather skinnies and oversized shirt. Pair the look with many accesories like earcuffs or knucklerings and bangles so you don't fall into the tomboy zone too deeply. You can either wear some lovely slippers or seal the whole outfit with the hottest and most trendy item of the moment: SNEACKERS!
However pick them with a twist.
No running sneackers or converse... Pick something any rapper would be proud of. Clean, sleek, white J's with a little heel inside to make you look a bit gangsta and still feminine and chic.
I've seen this kind of footwear paired with pencil skirts and LBD's that achieve the most perfect french girl-off-duty look.
Don't forget you are going to school, so your most amazing backpack is necessary!

An it girl is aware of every trend and has the ability to master each and every one of them effortlessly, and she even distinguishes herself in the most casual looks by wearing out of the ordinary pieces.
For example... taking denim as the jocker, instead of the average sneackers, she would wear patent leather oxfords, instead of a backpack she would use a tote to carry everything around. An oversized woolen or cashemere sweater would be her most reliable ítem in a day of lazyness, a foulard would complement it and would look sophisticated with the top fedora.
A FEDORA FOR SCHOOL?
Yes, why not?
It Works exactly as the beanie... keeps you brain warm, but somehow looks better, smoother, sexier and more mysterious.

Sometimes you don't even want to think about the look because you are to busy trying to escape the pillows who have, during the summer, recognized you as one of their own and won't let you go out of bed. Relatable story. Nevertheless you don't need to look like a hobo. Messy hair is fine, just take out a logo-shirt, your coolest statement necklace, skinny jeans, some wild slippers and maybe a tote to fit everything inside.

Normcore.
A new art to master.
It's messy, but chic, but minimalistic, but weird... matches but doesn't match.. it's low profile but makes people stare at you for hours and it's the perfect excuse to shoot a Vogue spread wearing bikini's at the supermarket because.. NORMCORE.
So, don't think too much about it. Go with the huntch.
I would love to wear my paint-splattered-boyfriend jeans with some T, my unforgettable lucky charms and some slippers just to be comfy. The backpack can be the total statement. (Apart from everything else itself)
This trend is weird but somehow gives you the perfect opportunity to
DO WHAT EVER THE F...ashion YOU WANT!

Last, the lady like look.
Or know better known as the LLL.
A pair of jeans with a crisp blouse is a no-error look. The upgrade comes with a pair of anckle booties and a statement jacket in tweed or with leather accents. The birkin bag was just a fantasy touch...
A girl can dream right?

Which look woud you wear?
Are you ready for school?

Voyage

"There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign"

Hello my beloved readers,
I hope you are having a great week preparing for school... Unless you are already back.
If that's the case, I wish you a great easy and fun start of term!
I'm feeling a bit cornball because the summer holidays are close to come to an end, however I'm excited for this new year and change of season that is about to happen as well.
Summer is all about reborn... It's about feeling breezy and young.
And taking advantage of it all, before it get's crashed by the oppulence and exhilarating energy of the fall, I went for a stroll in the park on this beautiful hot sunny day to soak in the remainings of vitamine D and enjoy my beautiful city.
This is one of the things I've discovered I like the most to do on weekends.
Just go to a place and promenad around, discovering little bistrots or coffe shops, enjoying a cup of fresh fruit, (the perks of living in a semi-tropical country) and sedately absorbe its particular energie. I personally think that this is the only way to really get to know a place. I've done it in Berlin, London, Paris and NYC appart from my own hometown and I trully feel that the essence of this places grow inside you, once you wander without direction or schedule.
So I hit it off with my brother and father and had a great relaxing day wearing this beautiful caftan that perfectly personifies this feeling of freedom I wrote about before.
My new mules are the perfect type of shoe to comfortably dance, stroll, run around (after my brother) for hours and still look beautiful.
To complement the asian exotic vibe I needed a statement necklace, because you know that everything from a White T to even this emebellished blouse gets and upgrade with a statement necklace; so I chose this beauty from Sachi Accesorios to go along.
As the vintage touch I picked up my flawless, 40's, red leather Aries boxy bag with bamboo handles that used to belong to my grandmother.
There's a very interesting story about this particular handles. In World War two, when all the metal was being collected for the arms industry, the big fashion houses were left without resources to complete their leather bags and put sturdy handles, so the Italians came up with the idea of using bamboo, a hollow and resistant plant which is actually an abundant resource.
So these bags, which have now become very popular and are now returning to fashion, are rather a milestone in its history caused by necessity.
Amazing how the idea of something so beautiful can be born of lack and despair.
If I ever travel to india or somewhere in asia or the middle east I will for sure pack this entire look!
It somehow reminds me a bit of Morocco, don't you think...?
Where would you like to go? Or where have you been that has left you in love with it's energy?

Beauty: Tropical essentials

8:04 PM Prueba 0 Comments

Hi beauties!
This beauty wednesday I'd like to share with you my latest and favourite essentials selection of the season starting from perfume to my latest crush on nude lipstick.
There are a ton of lovely products that I enjoy day by day and which simply make me feel happier just by the pleasure of using them.
As I don't wear anything but mascara on school days, summer gives me the opportunity to try new options. Finding a good product is like a treasure hunt where we found ourselves looking for an elixir guaranteed to give us a special glow.
When we do find something in this spectrum it becomes an instant essential we put in our purse and cherish in our heart.
I've been trying quite a lot this last few weeks and decided to sum it up to my most reliable picks.
Those few that come to my mind every time I wake up in a hurry and know that will make me look fresh like a lettuce (My father says you need to look like one every morning, because If you don't then you had not enough sleep).
I’ve tried and been using them all for a long time and am confident enough to personally suggest them to you.
Hope you find them as much as I do and that you find your summer beauty potion soon...!
Share any good product with me per social media or leave the name on the comments below!

NARS Lipstick:
I think we know that I'm a true NARSissist, we settle that clear on my post talking about their lovely
velvet gloss (click HERE to see) so when I found this beauty I couldn't wait to try it.
At first I wondered why people used "nude lipstick", but truth is that with the right shade like this one called "Belle De Jour" it'll enhance the natural color of your lips and give them a slight silky texture.

Green Liner:
Why stick to black and white when summer presents itself with a full new palette of bright colors like this one. Bright, crazy, tropical, "larger than life" green from the new NARS collection.

Dior Addict:
A hint of sicilian tangerine is delicious to start my summer days.

Burgundy eyes:
Couleur Caramel liner is my absolute MUST HAVE! It trully makes my eyes POP!

Waterproof Mascara:
I think that the results were quite visible after one stroke, so this baby is my run for the glam mascara.

MAC Pink Lip Crayon:
Line your lips and then color them, it dries fast, so you can put another color on it and get an iconic one.

Which are your summer essentials?

Logomania

12:00 AM Prueba 0 Comments

Artist: Mike Frederiqo

The base of humanity is culture.
Culture is about us living in a community, learning from past achievements of our race and imitating.
But before we get into an ethic lesson here, the point I'm trying to make is that we imitate to fit in.
And Fernando Savater's principle perfectly applies to fashion, maybe in another level, but it does.

We want to fit in, we want to be hype, we want that bag with that logo to make us feel special.
It's a fever! It's a logo-fever, because a runway piece with a logo on it would be recognizable and even though we want to fit in as part of human's nature desire to belong to a club, we paradoxically want to stand out.
However there are two types of marks out there. I call them the timeless logo, and the massive logo.
Example... You can be the one girl with the lovely 2.55 black Chanel or the one with the MK bag.
There's a difference right?
Dont get me wrong, I like both brands, but talking about purses specifically... One is classic and the other not.
Why is that?
Logos used to be about status and identifying purpouses. Now with the great amount of colophons we deal with everyday, it's just too much.
The scadalous FW14 Moschino collection was a perfect epitome of that.
Logos are starting to dissapear, that's not only my point of view, Purificacion García and Carolina Herrera's latest collections made huge remark on it.
Add to this that the piracy market has grown dramatically over the last years, specially copying all luxury brand's signature logos like the iconic LV, making it affordable to everyone.
So, instead of being exclusive iconography of a certain lifestyle, it began to be normal and common.

Thing is that not everyone can afford Céline or Ferragamo, reason why instead of looking for design, people look for marks to show what they are buying.
I personally don't like this crazyness for big bold logos. I'm fascinated by tiger KENZO shirts, but I would certainly not buy logo-everything to avoid looking like advertising with a set of legs.

I’d rather buy those pieces that can be identified by the well trained eye of an expert in fashion, because even if other mortals don't see the brand, none can deny that those pieces exude a luxurious allure and quality that can't be replace by any letter.

Do you have the logo fever? Am I the only one seeing it or you’ve noticed as well? Are you pro or con? Do you like your clothes to be loud or neat ?

Xoxo, RWPF
