The mechanics of the heart

7:06 PM Prueba 0 Comments

"It's impossible" said pride supported by fear.
"It's risky" said conscious encouraged by experience.
"It's pointless" screamed negativity from behind.
"Give it a try" whispered the heart. -RWPF

Have you ever payed attention or thought about how your heart really works?
Not on an emotional level, but on a purely visceral?

Close your eyes.
Clear your mind.
Listen.
Enjoy the silence.
Silence?
No, not silence...There never is.

Pounding
1..2..3...  1..2..3...
Yes, brutal and disturbingly exhilarating pounding...

Now concentrate... Sense it.
The more you think about it, the stronger it becomes.
You feel its warm echo inside your eardrums, its evenly rythm wobbling up and down your chest, its harsh and vital power rushing through every nerve and tissue in your body.
Then suddenly you remember something...
Start breathing in, breathing out, making the sanguine fluid flow even through the most hidden recesses in your veins.
You savagely open your eyes with dilated pupils as memories unleash highly reactive brain chemicals that trigger a violent bloodstream suddenly palpable by the burning color of your face and clenched fists.

Make a pause.
Close your eyes.
Control your mind.
Clear.
Drain.
Now you are pale, calmed and pale.
Funny how much dominion the mind has over every inch of every cell in our body, which blindly obeys the whims of a mysterious dictator who, at the same time, meets resistence when having to comply its own set of rules proving how trully rebellious and untameable we are in our most primal thoughtless state.
Start breathing deeper, slowly in and out as you've decided to dig profoundly in other recollections.
Then you blush, giggle, pound synchronously with another soul hidden in the caves of another ribcage.
1,1...2,2...3,3...  1,1...2,2...3,3...
Pounds fiercely expanding the blue cavities of your plasma pipes carrying away life.
This bloody movement is nothing and has nothing to do with what you actually think it does.
Your heart is not responsable for the love or hate you feel, but simply works as an engine of life that makes it all possible.
Curious how you can really get physically hurt for what happens within your mind.
You can feel empty as if some dark claws had just taken a piece out of you, and feel as if ambition had left your soul, because that little contractile muscle is the only one who can refuse to obey reason, logic and experience.
The heart is as much an enemy of the mind as the mind itself,  but even though they might face the same monster, they will never be on the same side of the war.
The heart is the only one who can betray and show the darkest most protected thoughts with a simple contraction.
Your face, body language, attitude, even the words you speak may say something... But your heart, your blood flow, will always tell the truth.
It is as powerful as it is delicate and depends just as much on you as you depend on it to survive.
That's how it works...
It's not only blood that flows through your veins...
There's life, memories, rebellion and feeling as well... All created by the connection between a red engine and a soul.

Imperial Jewels

12:00 AM Prueba 0 Comments

I've always been fascinated by history, and one of the most exciting topics I've read about has been about the Romanov's, the Russian Tsars.
These dinasty changed the course of history and helped to shape Russia into one of the world’s most
powerful nations today.
They loved exquisite jewelry and Peter Carl Fabergé, better know as the master goldsmith, was often commissioned to make amazing pieces for Tsar Alexander, his wife, mother and daughters.
His well know Easter eggs were born that way.
The production of his famous pieces were highly labour-intensive. Many hours
of hand-buffing were required to give the enamel a velvety finish. Enamel itself had to be heated to over 1000 degrees, process which had to be repeated a few times to obtain the each desired colour. To get a smooth embossement, he used a difficult technique called the champlevé method which consisted of carving the surface and filling the troughs with enamel. A total of about 50 eggs were produced, though only 43 survive the russian revolution.

I was about 8 when I first read about Fabergé and rapidly became obsessed with their beautiful creations. My favourite Easter egg is named “The Lillies of the Valley”, which I always said I wanted to see in person.
So, when my daddy took me to New York, the first thing he bought me was a bracelet with to-scale reproductions of the most significant Easter eggs, made by hand by the successors of Monsieur Fabergé. It is certainly one of the most prized possessions in my jewelry box.
Since then, the only thing I was missing was a necklace to complete my collection. I was overjoyed when I received one of these precious hand-made golden eggs from Fabergé Jewelry Box, an international distributor of Fabergé-inspired goods hand-crafted by Russian artisans in Moscow, which makes each pendant a one-of-a-kind.
Don't you love them?
As I have always said, I like when things have a history and meaning... Add the work of handcrafting and it is like couture: a piece of art and your unique lucky charm... Something to hold on to when things are right and wrong.
I'm in love with these beauties. Check them out on  www.fabergejewelrybox.com

What to Wear on a Date

12:00 AM Prueba 1 Comments

WELL, I'm no expert when it comes to dating or boys or anything.. quite frankly I'm at that phase where I have no clue what's up with that. (Let's pray for it to be a phase only)
Why people crave the cruel agony of love will always be a mistery; what goes through a boys head as well... However two things are clear.
One, a little Casablanca in my life wouldn't be that bad.
Two, I have some sort of clue when it comes to clothing that can make me feel safe anytime.
For that reason I would love to share some tips about what to wear when going out with someone.

The first time I went on a date, I was naive enough to think it wasn't. Nevertheless we went to the movies and people don't need a gown for that so I kept it simple with a pair of black jeans and a shirt.
The next time I like to think I had some sort of clue and luckily had the perfect excuse to wear nice clothes for it, so the night before I emptied my closet looking for a nice dress to look chic but not over dressed, but girly, but not like I was trying too much.... (Corny drama ha ha ha)  But but but.... Until I found my favourite pink A-shaped dress and decided to pair it with leather anckle strapp suede stilettos.
I could only hope to have achieved the perfect and most comfortable look for lunch, which according to my boy BFF I did (It's not mandatory but always nice to have a partial boy's opinion).
What happened next is another story, the important thing is that my outfit made me feel like at least I looked all put together.
The dress was perfect for lunch and a little stroll afterwards.
What I'm trying to say is that the place is key to know what to wear.

Lunch
Nice, casual, the perfect place to talk, be a little goofy and get to know each other a little better.
Boys: Wear jeans, sneakers a shirt and a blazer it looks cool without being to formal.

Cinema, museum, coffee shop
Exchange opinions and laugh a little over a nice cup of coffee.
Boys: Denim, leather jacket, t-shirt, combatboots.

Bowling
Fun plan to see which competitive side is stronger.
There you need something comfortable to be free to make your move.
Boys: Black denim, all stars, t-shirt, denim jacket.

Picnic
Outdoors are always nice. Simple things are the one's that make you the happiest!
Boys: AS ALWAYS....Denim and I would probably wear a shirt with cuff sleeves and a sweater just to avoid wearing t-shirts as a uniform.
Dinner
A much more formal and serious plan.. If you reach that point.. Spectacular!
Make your best impression.
Boys: Crisp black suit, white or black shirt and nice tie. Forget everyone who has ever told you an ALL BLACK look is out of style.... They certainly know nothing about style.
Dancing
It doesn't matter if you are Fred Astaire or move like Jagger, the point is to have fun!
And believe me... If you laugh... You are half way there!
Boys: Denim, stripes shirt, nice shoes, leather jacket.
I hope you have fun where ever you are going and find your Rick Blaine or Ilsa Lund soon... (I need to watch Casablanca soon to stop with this crazy amount of references hahah post soon)

Runway Walk

12:00 AM Prueba 0 Comments

So, I had a little debate with a friend the other day about his confussion and curiousity on women footwear.

It doesn't matter how long you explain a boy how heels elongate your legs, improve your posture, make you look thinner and feel powerful, because according to him and most men, heels are like a weapon of mass destruction to our bodies, nails beneath our soles that we foolishly worship.
According to them, it is or should be quite difficult to walk right, which might be true without the proper training.

I find hilarious when girls don't really know how to walk in them on the street he he he in spanish we say that they walk like "pollos espinados" in translation they look like chickens who have just stepped on thorns. (Sounds a lot better in spanish tough)
I'm not trying to be mean or anything,  every woman has her chicken time and quite frankly it might sound a little cocky, but to get passed it, like everything in the fashion world, the heel walk is something to master.
Nobody is born knowing how to walk over 6 inches, it's unatural and sometimes uncomfortable, so it requires practice.... And once you got it... It's all worth it.

I remember a few moths before my elementary school graduation ( I was around 12 or 13) that my mom bought me my first pair of heels. It was a pair of beautiful 2inch black satin Steve Madden sandals with flowers on them.
I was ecstatic. Every girl craves her first pair of heels and the opportnity to wear them when we are little, however the moment I stepped on them I realized It was going to be challenging to dance "all night long".
That would be the story of how my mum started "heel bootcamp" around the house for the next months before the big day.
I've never felt like a clacker more in my life (Devil wears Prada reference), I could bearly and with a great deal of concentration go gracefuly up and down the stairs... The whole thing was killing me! The first week was a nightmare. Not because I couldn't walk, because I could, I was rocking it... But because my feet were all swallowed and hurt.
Starting to walk in heels it's like going to the gym, you are quite sored at the beginning but end up getting used to it.
The party was a success, the dancing was on cloud nine (practically, literally, but I wasn't in love hahaha)  light as a feather and then it all went downhill from there as wedges and pumps were sporadical becoming my weekend besties. I had my ups and NEARLY downs... Even lived those akward situations of wearing heels when the park we were going to was full of stones, because you know... The fashion.
But well, It's been four years since that.
2 with my blog... So, heels are becoming more and more a part of my life. One day I aspire to have a great job in fashion that allowes me to stack my closet with pumps and strappy sandals.

Fascinating isn't it?
How much this masochistic artifacts do and represent.
I asked about this on the blog and everyone including boys said heels are a form of empowerement and complement to a women's personality. Nevertheless it will always remain a painful but a the same time absolutely beautiful mistery why we wear them.
I love to walk around my city 10cm taller, it makes you take things into perspective, however the wise thing to do is to carry a pair of flats in your bag. That's the untold fashion week secret.
The reason is and will probably remain uncertain, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few tips to learn how to walk the walk properly.
After all my jibber jabber please keep reading to see a list of the little details that turn your average platform stroll into THE (street-style-fashionweek-worthy) RUNWAY WALK.

1.- Tip, Tap, Toe
People normally think that walking on heels is nothing but a normal walk a few inches taller... Well, that's wrong you are not in your ballerinas anymore you need to give shorter steps and go from anckle to toe or do the exact opposite, I tend to give longer stronger strides to avoid loosing balance.

2.- Attitude
Attitude is a little thing that can make a great change. Always remember to keep your head up, never walk while looking to the floor. That will give you confidence and make you look put together.

3.- Rythm
Don't rush while in heels, pick a steady rythm and stick to it. People that go too slow or too fast tend to look akward.

4.- Pose
Lean slightely to the back.
When trying to rush in heels we start walking like giraffes to compensate the lack of speed.

5.- Blurred Lines
Walk on a straight line... Picture yourself and just follow it.

6.- Flop
Oh the flop, the magical flop... Girls don't just do it when giving a kiss, but to balance their weight when standing on heels.

7.- Cinderella Story
If the shoe fits... Buy it in every color... And walk along because a well fitted shoe is the key to a perfect walk.

Cover all this points and you'll be ready to walk to this beat ... (My friends and I used to practice this way :P)

Blackout

6:22 PM Prueba 0 Comments

" I aquired a hunger for fairy tales in the dark days of blackout and blitz...."

I would love if things could develop themselves at the ends of the spectrum.
I would love if they were simply black or white, yes or no, good or bad... Because once we get into the many shades of grey (more tan fifthy I can assure), once we step into limbo... we encounter doubts with the ability to eat us alive.
These questions make us wonder if we are doing things right, if we could have done better, if it is our fault that they ended up as messed up as they are and tide us with the question of whether there is anything we can do to fix it.
It is sad, uncertain and a cruel mixture of light and darkness tangled and branched into every corner of our minds creating a rebellious maze of uncertainty, in which the mind as its own master is able to make a heaven of Hell or a hell of Heaven.
If we think it true, it's easier to live in the dark.
Murkiness conceals our flaws, protects our feelings and hides our surroundings so that we thrive without worries.
Perspicuity on the other hand, shows things as they are, makes them real and tangible, exposes intentions, unmasks feelings and presents our failures and those from the onces that surround us in a shiny silver platter.
But is carefree "thriving" worth it?
Is there a time when we can look direct into the sun and fight our demons?
As deadly as it is, that is a battle that can only be faught in broad daylight where hell takes shape and waits for us to fire the first shot.
Bloodthirsty, savage and violently as they appear, we can only aspire to keep them on a leash.
Nevertheless, for that, one must step into the light, leave all doubt behind and look proudly into once's soul to finally free it from the claws of despair.
That my friends, can only be done if we take a leap and for once in our lives accept that we are afraid.
Fear of fear is quite sage and probably the deepest fear of all able to turn us into invincible beings, those that even if afraid, decide to break the chains that impede them from flying, because if we acknowledge our fear, we realize as well that right now we are good, our bodies work marvelously allowing us to step into the light.
I don't want rhings to be easy, I want them to be good.
Because if things are worth it they won't be easy, if they are easy they won't be worth it, if you are worth it you won't give up and if you give up, you were never worthy.
So, prepare yourself to look into the mirror.. and don't forget to turn on the light.

NYFW: Future Spring 2015... Part1

8:05 PM Prueba 0 Comments

September is the january of Fashion.
Starting with this month's magazines which turn into humongous presents on our doorstep, it is the start of a new season and style revolution who's accomplishments only last for the next 6 months until another barbaric weather strike and idea brainstorm takes place practically simultaneously in NYC, Paris, London and Milan turning this "new year" in nothing like the mundane "relaxing" one (if you ever find holiday season relaxing) but into complete and beautiful chaos.

Fashion Week New York came to an end last friday, and was the responsable for the kick off of the crazyness of fashion month.
From all the NYFW's I've lived as blogger, this was the quickest one. I'm normally glued to my IPhone screen to see what's happening every minute of every day in every show and presentation in both sides of the globe, but this year it all took place in the blinck of an eye and it was suddenly over.
I can't even imagine what it could be if I lived everything in flesh and blood. Which hopefully I will one day, when I get the chance to finally RSVP yes to all those beautiful and blessed invitations I'm finally and luckily am getting. It would probably be sweet pandemonium with sored feet.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mean pandemonium in a wrong way, it is said that nothing good happens in heaven, so we might as well all go to hell in beautiful magnetic sole stilettos.
So before proceeding with more ... we will summarize the future of SS15 according to the Big Apple.

Marc Jacobs
Every season Marc Jacobs ends wowing all spectators watching his shows, because even though he follows a line of youthfull, cool, daring designes, nobody really knows were he is going to take us season after season. This time we were called for duty at battle field, which stands in counter positions to the sweet venue with a cute white-picket-fenced house illuminated in pink he chose for his models to strut down the runway.
This time the military inspiration was taken to another level. No camouflage, but a palette of military green, khaki, white and navy from very thick methallic fabrics that could easily remind us of a parachute or combat attire.
The silhouettes were short and flirty while at the same time dairing and a bit galactic.
I immediately tthought about something between star treck and the army.
Don't you love it?
I would seriously consider in wearong that cobalt space amazon dress or the Green military jumpsuit full of explorer pockets.

J. Mendell

Apart from the clearly elegant silhouette we were intended to see, J. Mendell's fur was definetely one of the peeks of the collection as this designers is already merging seasons and preparing every woman to fight this terrible bipolar weather. He made clear as well, that fur can be fun.

Michael Kors
Basically made the statement of the season. Clean basics like button down shirts with embroideres skirts and a belt.
THE BELT KNOT THOUGH.... one to keep an eye on.
Calvin Klein
In words of Vogue, Francisco Costa seems to have gotten, just like Picasso into a Blue Period as his shade choices in the latest Calvin Klein collection were nothing more than navy with occasional hints of red and white in garnments that returned to Klein's origins and portrait sporty cleanliness with interesting textures compelling a more modern and minimalistic look one would expect from the brand.

Ralph Lauren
Utility, and how it can appear in every girl's closet, was the message here, which is 100% Ralph, who knows we can all dream a little but need to stay grounded in reality. Whenever I think of Ralph, I picture timelesss class of an american woman. Picture Jackie Kennedy in some way Diane Keaton and neat society woman wearing capri pants and sweaters. So, for me, Ralph Lauren was something for mature woman, something I'd like to wear when I get older (even If I have some beautiful pieces in my closet at the moment) but the way he has of reinterpreting each piece to make it edgier and add the sexy factor is stunning. The safari jacket has now a sharply defined waist, colorful suits like that gorgeous olive versión that walked down the runway, black looks with sheered backs and dreamy organza details that complemented each and every single attire. His idea of perfection from after 9 to 5... A pair of long crystal earrings in lustrous shades of ruby and amethyst. Go big or go home.

And this was just a sneak peek from everything we were able to absorb the last crazy week in NYC.. stay tuned for more...

Viva Mexico!

7:48 PM Prueba 0 Comments

September is a month of celebration for all Mexicans.
We get very patriotic and love dressing to celebrate independence day, the downside is that sometimes we do not know how to combine the essence of the holidays with our daily looks and then
end up wearing the national football team shirt or wear the flag colors, which normally make us look as if we're wearing a costume.
There is nothing wrong with using typical pieces, face painting, wacky hairstyles and handcrafted pieces, but sometimes we are not in the mood for much production and only want to include typical Mexican things in our daily outfits to mix tradition with contemporary and achieved a very cool look.

Say it with a shirt!
Was 2014's slogan, so why not wearing a cute funny shirt to portrait the spirit!
Don't you love the wicker bag? You can find them in tons of markets across the country and they are perfect to give your look an ethnic vibe.

Mexico is famous for its silver pieces, in fact it is one of the largest producers in the world, renowned for its quality.
My favorite place to buy this type of jewelry place is a small town called Taxco in the state of Guerrero. The embroidered blouses also fascinate me, so a nice way to combine both could be with some jeans or shorts with high heel sandals and  asatchel....

Jewelry is definitely one of the easiest things to combine and skulls decorated are worshiped throughout the world not only in fashion but as cherished souvenirs and allusions to our culture, so do not hesitate, get colorful and opt to use many of them this holiday season.

The Future is Gold

8:22 PM Prueba 0 Comments

"The past can be beautiful, a memory, a dream, but it’s no place to live.  And now it’s time, the only way out, is up. It’s not heaven. It’s a new world. The future is gold"

J'adore Dior was born as a way for John Galliano to leave his mark in Christian's maison.
His very first collection was inspired by the masai women, who usually wear dozens of golden necklaces as ornament to elongate their necks, which then served as guide line to create the magnificent bottle. The name?
Well, this design genius couldn't pronúnciate a word in french at the time of his early beginnings at Dior, but J'adore! He adored this, and that and everything involving the creative process of something new. This way, a great designer managed to leave his hidden print in something ever iconic, that even though he had to abruptly and scandalously leave, prevails.
That is one of the main reasons why I like this perfume so much, not only because of it's scent and appealing tv spots picturing wonderful eleggant women, but because of the yuxtaposition between the simplicity of it's bottle to the story behind it.
This year J'adore has a new and more powerful meaning. The Future Is GOLDEN.
Words we should all live by every day, don't you think?

Moonshine Jungle

"You know you look even better than the way you did the night before
And the moment that you kissed my lips you know I started to feel wonderful
It's something incredible, there's sex in your chemicals
oh,
let's go!
You're the best way I know to escape the extraordinary
This world ain't for you, and I know for damn sure this world ain't for me
Lift off and say goodbye
Just let your fire set me free
Ohhh...
Moonshine, take us to the stars tonight
Take us to that special place
That place we went the last time, the last time.
I know, I was with you last night but it feels like it's been so long
And everybody that's around they know that im not myself when you are gone
It's good to see you again, good to see you again...
On top of the world!
Is where I stand when you're back in my life
Life's not so bad when you're way up this high
Everything is alright, everything is alright
Moonshine, take us to the stars tonight
Take us to that special place
That place we went the last time, the last time..

I never really go crazy... But when I do, I evoke my inner rockstar.

I've never been t-shirt obsessed.
I don't tend to buy one at every place I visit even though I love it there, however there's a very cool factor about concert shirts that we can't deny.
People go out of the arena after 2 hours of great exhilaration music and agree to buy one with the idea of feeling that way every time they wear them.
The saddest part is, that most of the time they just end up wearing them as PJ's on a lazy sunday morning while browsing the internet. (With a roocker heart and soul no doubt)
So the appropiate question is... HOW DO YOU STYLE A CONCERT SHIRT?
Vintage rock shirts made a HUGE comeback this year as part of the high/low trend.
So, I did not even hesitate when I saw this one at the Moonshine Jungle Tour from BRUNO MARS... Yes, it was THAT amazing!
What you need to keep in mind with t-shirts is that in order to make themlook cool, you have to get rid of the lazy-sunday-comfy-in-my-sweatpants idea.
Take a moment to think about your most elegant pieces, and then mix them with this type of shirts.
Think about stilettos, leather pants and a Gun's n' Roses crop top. Or an Aerosmith T with a White lace skirt.
Options are infinite, you just have to think about things on the other side of the spectrum.
Yellow, groovy and cool I could only think in this black leather pencil skirt to complement the yuxtaposition between rocker and classy, which in my opinión, matched pretty well.
The shirt was already bright enough, reason why it wouldn't really matter that my shoes where all red and popping creating balance between the ruby details on the top as well.
Would a little animal print be too much?
PLEASE, we are talking about the Moonshine JUNGLE tour, a little wildness was more than necessary!
To give the finishing touches of rocker glam, I decided to go golden with a fabulous chocker, 6 knucklerings and a pair of sunnies.
What do you guy's think, is it cool enough?
