Beauty: Le Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche

5:36 PM Prueba 0 Comments

FINALLY!
I most admit I'm quite nostalgic about the fact that I'll have to leave my gloves, tights and booties in the back of the closet, but FINALLY the sun has decided to come out and the freshness of spring has arrived.
Still my LBD is a must, and Guerlain has added a new version that perfectly to wear with the beginning of the hot season: Le Petite Robe Noire Eau Fraiche
Sparkling, low-cutted, flirty and bright in comparison to other "dresses" from Guerlain's closet, this version is much more relaxed and light. I tend to develop a love-hate relationship with perfumes that have darker notes such as plum, and purple Jasmine because even though the scent is nice, it tends to be a bit too heavy. Nevertheless this one mixes the brands iconic notes like bergamot and sambac jasmine with Sicilian mandarines, lemon oil, bulgarian roses, fressias, apricot and pistachio, an unusual ingredient which distinctively adds a refreshing essence.
With an irresistibly neckline and embroidered petals this new fragrance is the one to wear as we welcome summer with GUERLAIN and a deliciouse french brunch at Noisette where they held the presentation taking us a step closer to the magic of the city of lights...

Beauty: Cleaning your Makeup Brushes.

12:00 AM Prueba 0 Comments

Makeup brushes are no cheap thing and after some time they become caked with residues of makeup, death skin and bacteria. Now imagine brushing your face with those infection colonies... Ewwwwww!
Really gross when you think about it, because who really cleans them as much as they should?
But once you know it, it becomes perfectly clear that such mess is one of the ingredients to terrible breakouts. That is why cleaning your brushes is one of the most important thing to do in order to have a nice, clean face. It's not just the food, or drinking tons water, or washing it regularly, everything needs to be clean. It's been in my To-Do list for over 2 weeks and today I finally got the chance to fulfill a task worthy of a pro makeup artist.
I chose to do it with MAC's Brush Cleanser. Just soak them in water, place a drop of the product in the roots of the brush, wash it, rinse, reshape and place in a towel. That's one of the most recommended ways because the product loosens the makeup rests attached to the hairs of the brush.
If you don't have one in hand, take a bar of white, uncented, most basic, soap or dish washer to clean them. Either way you'll be taking all th pasted bacteria away and prolong the life of your brushes.

Saturday night fever!

12:00 AM Prueba 0 Comments

Ese momento cuando el ritmo se apodera de ti y tus pies te ruegan porque hagas algo al respecto.

That moment
when the rumba ambition hits you hard
and your feet need you to do something about it...
No Pain. Much Gain.

Starting from friday its time to get a little crazy and my stilettos know it!
Even so, I sometimes face a tricky question. A question more difficult then Hamlet's conundrum of whether one must be or not. A question that involves shoes and every girl faces before a rumble:
Heels or flats?
Because a girls just wants to have fun and not sore feet the next day, am I right?
still, we can't always have what we want because life is kind of unfair, so we have to choose: the glamour or the "comfort" to live every second of those amazing nights in pure fun and no suffering. (Not that next days hangover or crazy dancing is going to leave you fresh as a lettuce)
I mean, every girl encounters this question once in a while or maybe every weekend. It is like the seasoning to the "I have nothing to wear" daily drama.
Is it worth it to hop around 10 cm taller in a crowded disco?
Or is it better to embrace our natural hight and posture to avoid worrying about stepping on people, getting stepped on or being taller then our sweetheart or conquest?
(ANY INTERESTED BOY READING THIS KNOW FOR SURE THAT MY HEELS ARE MY BABIES AND I'LL NEVER STOP WEARING.. with that being said, keep reading...)
There's no actual cientific use of the heel. A few centuries ago they were only worn by elite men to show their superiority... and because they use to be quite little too. (Napoleon for example). Nowadays appart from pleasurable suffering, high heels make us feel like goddesses.
It's true. Like Brian Atwood says "The sex is in the heel" They can change every look into something remarkable and announce your arrival with the most empowering and magnetic strut.
Well, turning back to the subject those are some of the reasons why heels always win the battle agains ballerinas to the club. Those are just to corny, this are FEROCIOUS!
However, this doesn't mean they can't be comfortable. Monsieur Louboutin would kill me if I ever called his creations comfy instead of pretty, which they are not... seriously it's an art to master a walk on those, still there are certain types of stilettos perfect to wear for a night out without worrying on whether we can jump or dance all night long in peace. No Pain, much gain.
The trick is not on the height but on the design quite literally. I see girls wearing gigantic pumps that drive them crazy. First mistake is to wear something with no support. You can choose needle heels but always wear them with some sort of stabilizer.
My choice? Anckle strap shoes or anything that can be zipped or laced up to assure comfort and flawless mobility.
Here a perfect hybrid of zip-lace-strap by Roberto Cavalli, fun drunken clutch by Alice&Olimpia and a wild vibe!

Cute and girly but still flirty!
Miu Miu babies, Kate Spade winking bag and Cosmos!

Zip up and run away in a velvet fortress from Brian Atwood to go drink champagne and dance the nigh away..

Further recommendations would include you trying to choose nothing taller than 10 cm, otherwise your feet will be too arched and you won't feel good in a matter of hours.
Remember, it's not just about the look, its about having fun and in some sort of way about not ditching the glamour vibe. I mean you can do what ever you want as long as you are lucid, but taking your shoes of at the disco just isn't right...
Choose the heels, enter like a glamazon and get the party started!
Cheers!

Beauty: Givenchy's New Muse

12:00 AM Prueba 0 Comments

"The day begins.
The sunset.
A couple in love.
A child playing.
A light in the night.
A note of music.
A voice crooning.
The song of a bird.
The murmur of the rain.
The roar of the city.
So many signs, lives, moments. For us to fully live the moment, retain the essential, smile and get carried away by the feelings"

Cosmetic is much more than technique and pretty colors, it is a way to portrait our most desireable looks without boundaries.
Even in the univers of beauty there are levels. Recognized names for their technology, approach and development allowing beauty enthusiast to access a completely different experience by fulfill their necesities.
Givenchy is no exception. In fact, the french maison has now celebrated -by hosting a magical dinner- 10 years of success creating such milestones in the life of beauty lovers commanded by Nicolas Degennes, creator of the iconic round-brush Phenomen' Eyes Mascara, one that allowes you to separate, stretch and structure each eyelash to display the best frame of your look to the fullest.
Le Prisme Quatuor was also among the most celebrated products launching new sets of palettes inspired by the asian philosophy of the moment, offering Givenchy girl the chance to boldly break the status quo and follow her dreams with new amalgams of tones.
My favourites? No.5 Frisson "Shared pleasure, watching th estarts, I shine" and No.7 Tentation "In a meadow, beneath the shadow of the cherry trees, eternal Spring"
It's curious how they achieve the perfect balance between poder and silkness. So luxurious and clean they are better applyed with the finger tips without creating a dusty mess.
One of the two things I discovered that day was Le Soin Noir Sérum a brand new regenerative treatment that brightens and moisturizes skin. I'm fascinated. I tried it on my cardboard hands and they became soft like silk. For someone like me who inherited everything from her mother except for the texture of her hands (sorry Daddy hehehe) was a revelation.
This opulent black cream, is made of a concentration of Vital Black Algae Sap, which rebuilds collagen. For those who lead a "healthy life" and know the properties of spirulina, it sounds more than logical that the world of cosmetic starts using such ingredients in the search of an elixir of youth. Because the Black Algae Sap Concentrate Vital defies the most extreme conditions, it is indifferent to variations in temperature, pressure and salinity; the same to the glacial cold and UV radiation. Therefore if it isn't the much sought immortality potion, it might be definitely one of the pioneers of the industry. I have it safe guarded in it's case.(My precious hahah)

Of course, this dreamy evening had to end with golden clasp (literally) by launching Givenchy's new glimmering fragrance Dhalia Divin, created by Françoise Demachy with whom I ad the undeniable pleasure to chat with. Wonderful lady, working for the most prestigiouse perfume houses for over 30 years, practically a rock star in the field of perfumery, who told me that this scent was the hybrid of the then and now. Rich in feminine flower accents, but edgy enough to portrait the androgyny of this era, present in fashion, with woody hints which had been relegated in the past only to men fragrances. Like a jewel of couture the bottle takes us back to the 50's. Princess style, with a thread of gold around it's neck. Definitely a fragrance for a strong yet feminine muse like Alicia Keys, the face of this experience.
I want to thank the loving team at Givenchy for inviting me to such a beautiful event. It is a brand that has accompanied me in the steps of becoming a woman. My first foundation, designer mascara, favourite scent are packet in those beautiful couture cases with 4 Gs on them, that's why it is somehow emotional to be a part of such an important milestone from a brand that means so much to me. I can say that I trully get the philosophy of feminity and power they preach as I've grown with it.
So, thank you Givenchy for everything!

Everybody wants to be a rock star

4:53 PM Prueba 0 Comments

When you see people dress, and their style has an edge to it, that rebellious edge that bubbles up in every genre, that's rock n' roll.
If we were given the opportunity right here right now, we would become one. Without even thinking about how good we play an instrument (in case we even do), or if our voice is on point, we would do it just for that appealing life they are supposed to lead.                                                                             For the edge, the danger, the cool factor, the fashion....
Don't act surprise, I mean, you knew that was coming right? We love Fashion over here!
And I've been wanting to get into this love affair for quite a while now, because the relationship between music and fashion and how they complement and influence each other is mesmerizing. They’ve always been deliciously entangled. Rock stars and fans use fashion to amplify their rebellious values, while designers use music to articulate their collections and embrace freedom to create looks out of the ordinary. But before rockstars wore labels and brands invited bands to play at their shows both worlds developed in separates universes.

While fashion played an important role in history since the 14th century, portraying different milestones like the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, the liberation of women
women liberation in the 20’s and the different levels of society, it was until the 50’s when groove and sexual liberation hit society, that music played a direct part in the development of subcultures and trends. Fashion used to the be general. In different levels and circumstances people use to wear more or less the same, however rock music changed fashion completely. In the 50’s young people started to ditch suits to marry tunes and join the Rainbow family preaching peace and free love trying to show their disagreement with the Vietnam War until the 70’s, a decade that opened a new spectrum of expression were people could, trough music, show the world their disagreement with the established society. That’s how Anarchy took over the U.K bringing “Straight Edge” and “Destroy” Punk subculture, praising music, rebellion and criticisms to the sound of Sex Pistols and The Ramones, to life.

Listening to this music opened a world of endless possibilities to stand out from the crowd with a certain style and embrace uniqueness. On the other side of the Atlantic the afroamerican youth from the ghettos in NYC started popularizing break-dance music which became relevant in the mid 80’s together with Disco, the corny side of the time known for the afros, silky jumpsuits and neon colors, and what people called glam rock for highlighting visual entertainment. This is where I’ll stop with the history lesson, because all retro trends go back to the 40’s and ‘til the 80’s. No one wants to revive Justin and Britney’s denim looks from the 90’s which were nothing but uncool if you compare. All this subcultures have manifested themselves in the last few years bringing tartan, hip-hop sporty accents and of course the glamour of rock n’ roll back. Saint Laurent made skinny leather pants a la Axl Rose a basic in every girls closet. Hippie style fringed everything, from Carolina Herrera boots to
sued jackets, remind us to the phsichodelic rock from the flower power Era. Motorcycle gloves now sported by uncle Karl where one’s Billy Idol symbol. Chained locks hanging from the neck like Sid Vicious were a hugh success at the Chanel grocery show.
The tartan print we love so much, was made famous by the one and only Viviane Westwood when she designed it for the Sex Pistols who are a clear example of how artists set trends and are elevated to icon status. Each of these people where beacons of ideology, social movements and for that, the distinctive fashion that accompanied them.  Idols, music gods, result of an equation between attitude, boldness, chaos and music is what created that unbreakable atmosphere of cool, so seeked now a days and so difficult to achieve, inspires present generations and designers to create not only a wardrobe but a persona.

Rock is still an emblem of edge and thoughness most of us want to resemble by using leather, high boots, tshirts, chains with crosses, denim, head scarves, tons jewels merging into andronigy, playing indifferent to what people think of tattoos and spiky hair with a unique pose and badass attitude that made rockers so desirable as what they were wearing.
Because even if we want to, not everyone can pull off a Golden lamé tank with skinny jeans and still look super HOT like Lenny Kravitz, king of Aviator Sunnies and nose rings, yesterday at the superbowl. So, do you want to be a rockstar?
